All but the tape transcript has been lost, but director Ira Sachs has used this to create a two-hander, with Whishaw moving around the recreation of Rosenkrantz’s loft apartment, chatting away, which Hall prompts and smiles encouragement. A fascinating window onto the cultural milieu of the times, which would later be shattered by the spread of AIDS, which Hujar died of in 1987.
