Oink - Small World Cinema

Saturday 03 Oct In the Braithwaite Hall, David Lean Cinema and the Atrium

Join Small World Cinema and the David Lean Cinema for a weekend of playful films, hands-on creativity and cinematic adventures as part of Croydon Harvest. From a magical first cinema experience for under-5s to a funny and irreverent film about a pet pig, there’s something for different ages and interests. Children can also get creative, making miniature animal habitats and their own imaginary farmyard animals.
Small World Cinema brings films to life with creative activities that encourage children to explore, make and imagine.

Events on Saturday 03 October from 10.30am - doors open 10.00am

10.30am - 11.30am - Cinemini: A Magical First Cinema Experience (Under-5’s) in the Braithwaite Hall

Introduce your little ones to the magic of cinema with Cinemini, a playful first cinema experience combining short films, sensory play and creative exploration.
For Croydon Harvest, discover a charming collection of short films inspired by the natural world. Sounds become drawings, travellers become birds, trees change shape and a dog’s tail takes on a life of its own!
After the films, children can explore a cinematic playground of light, colour, shadow, movement and play, following their curiosity and discovering the magic of cinema together.

12.00pm - OINK in the David Lean Cinema + Farm Animal Craft Workshop in the Atrium (1.30pm to 2.30pm ) - Workshop included in cinema ticket.

Cast: Kees Prins, Hiba Ghafry, Jelka van Houten, Henry van Loon, Matsen Montsma, Loes Luca

“This is Oink. Oink is the best birthday present I’ve ever had in my life.”
Nine-year-old Babs has always wanted a pet, so she’s thrilled when her grandfather gives her a tiny piglet for her ninth birthday. She names him Oink and soon the little pig wins over the whole family. But Grandpa is hiding a secret… and it involves sausages!
The film is in Dutch with English subtitles. It’s not difficult to follow, even if you miss a word here and there.
After the film, join us for a relaxed Eco-Crafternoon celebrating the Harvest Festival. Using recycled materials, children can create real or imagined farmyard animals. Each creation will be filmed in time-lapse as it joins a growing imaginary farmyard.
